On November 22, 2017, we entered the sign of Sagittarius the ninth sign of the zodiac, ruled by Jupiter. In October, we are in the astrological time of Libra (September 23 – October 22), ruled by the planet Venus. During this cycle, we are influenced by the change of season from Late Summer into Fall, when the seeds of change we have planted in the Spring come to full harvest. Venus residing in the sign of Libra is concerned with issues of self-worth, the interplay of opposites, and the desire for balance, justice, and uniting oppositional forces to promote true harmony and love. She also has roots to war and agriculture and of course there is her long-standing relationship with Mars the god of War, which brings an element of chaos to this dynamic, creative and highly generative relationship. As summer wanes in the northern hemisphere, we move gradually towards Fall to first pass through what is referred to in the Five Element Theory as the season of Late Summer or Indian Summer. During this time, the Sun moves into the zodiacal constellation of Virgo, the Virgin Maiden, often seen with a sprig or bushel of wheat symbolizing the Goddess of the Harvest. Qualities of Virgo both reflect the ancient ruler, Mercury with thought and intellectual discrimination and the more recent ruler Chiron who brings hands on learning, apprenticeship, service to others and the pursuit of health. Sometimes Ceres (Demeter) is also associated with Virgo as she is the Goddess of the Harvest. more »

On August 23, we entered the sign of Virgo ruled by the planet Mercury. As the innermost planet located closest to the Sun it is a planet of extremes; small, rocky and wildly elliptical. Its eccentric orbit may well contribute to the planet being associated with the fleet footed messenger of the gods, Hermes or Mercury. The energetic associated with Mercury is one of activation of mind and reason, communication and freedom of choice. The approximate musical note for the silver colored Mercury tuning fork is C Sharp and when combined with Ohm a microtone is created. The Ohm/Mercury microtone is excellent for getting in between the cracks. This interval definitely creates movement and dissonance; a little goes a long way. more »

Aloha! It is a joy to return for another astrological overview for the month of August 2017. I am very eager to discuss treatment ideas regarding the solar eclipse, key lunar activation dates, and some of the middle and longer-term astrological arrangements we are experiencing as a collective. However, one of the main reasons I asked to write for our May and August newsletters this year is because of the relationship these months have with the phi ratio. This year, with respect to the Earth’s orbit around the Sun*, August 4th, 2017 is Phi Day! (Hey there’s a national Pi Day, why not a Phi Day?)
